December 5-11, 2016

DAY 1 – This morning we depart for some of the most exciting CHRISTMAS EVENTS in the Nation, KALIGHTSCOPE at the Galt House in Louisville, KY and LIGHT UP MIDDLETOWN in Middletown, Ohio. PLUS opening in July this year, NOAH’S ARK in Williamstown, KY! Even though this will be mostly a driving day, the miles will go by fast with anticipation of what’s in store. Jackson, TN will be our overnight stay. (L)

DAY 2 – Today we will make our way to Louisville, KY, home of the famous Kentucky Derby. But we’ll be looking for reindeer instead of horses! Our first attraction will be KALIGHTSCOPE, a landscape of larger-than-life, lighted holiday sculptures inspired by ancient Chinese art. Made of sheer, painted fabrics, each towering sculpture is enhanced by light, color and an imaginative setting. You will be amazed! Overnight in Louisville. (CB,D)

DAY 3 – It’s a full day of activities today as we make our way north to CINCINNATI, OH. Our first tour today will be the WIEDEMANN MANSION. Begun in the late 1880’s by local brewer, George Wiedemann, this historic home offers breathtaking views of the Cincinnati skyline. Each room features exquisite wood inlaid floors, hand carved mantels, and ornate hand painted plaster ceilings. After our tour, we will enjoy a delicious, lunch at WASHINGTON PLATFORM RESTAURANT, which was opened in 1860 as the John Armleder Wine and Lager Beer Saloon. The influx of German immigrants to the area helped to establish the enterprise as a favorite gathering place near the Miami Erie Canal. It has also been a Chinese laundry, a produce shop, and a boarding house. Our next stop will be the KROHN CONSERVATORY, a Christmas tradition in Cincinnati. There are countless PINK POINSETTIAS, a Poinsettia Tree, Little Trains, Bridges and Cottages. But if you love trains, a visit to EnterTRAINment JUNCTION, which boasts the largest indoor model train layout in the world, will thrill you at our next stop. With more than two miles of track, visitors are sure to transcend themselves to yesteryear upon entering this amazing exhibit. After checking into our hotel for the next two nights and having a quick dinner, we will take a driving tour of LIGHT UP MIDDLETOWN. Enjoy the many thousands of Christmas lights and festive music as you circle Smith Park Lake. (CB,L,D)

DAY 4 – After breakfast this morning, we head out for more Christmas cheer! You will enjoy a tour of BERN’S GARDEN CENTER where a horticulturist will give a talk about the myths and misconceptions of Poinsettias. Also on display are thousands of Christmas gift ideas, trees, wreaths and more. Next we will arrive for a wonderful lunch buffet at LA COMEDIA DINNER THEATER, one of the finest Dinner Theaters in the Midwest. Then relax and enjoy a wonderful show – “A Christmas Story” at the facility where John Goodman started his professional acting career. Next we head to the University of Dayton Library to see the AT THE MANGER display. This is one of the largest collections of international NATIVITIES in the United States, perhaps the world, and is sure to delight all ages! We can’t slow down as we make our way to the CLIFTON MILL LIGHT DISPLAY. Almost four million lights including a 100 foot “waterfall” of twinkling lights illuminate Clifton Mill and Gorge each year, creating a winter wonderland that is one of the country’s finest holiday lighting displays. Our dinner will be included at YOUNG’S GOLDEN JERSEY RESTAURANT. (CB,L,D)

DAY 5 – We start the day with a short drive to Williamstown, KY where we will visit NOAH’S ARK! This full sized replica of Noah’s Ark is a massive wooden structure (the largest wooden timber structure in the world) and is 510 feet long and more than 50 feet tall, before the sail is added. The ARK includes hundreds of different displays, including mock-up of animal stalls, recreations of how Noah and his family may have lived, and even an animatronic version of Noah that will answer questions. Lunch will be on your own in the 2000 seat cafeteria. We will continue to NASHVILLE, TN for the night. Tonight we will enjoy a CHRISTMAS DINNER CRUISE on the General Jackson Showboat (not the Ark), a great finale to our awesome Christmas Tour. (CB,D)

DAY 6 – We leave Nashville this morning heading to Little Rock, AR for our last night. (CB)
